Most of your Alaskan cruise will be filled with sights so spectacular that you will be transfixed by the passing scenery as you watch it close up through your binoculars. In every cruise, there are however, one or two days at sea. This is when on board cruise entertainment comes in to its own. Choice in Alaskan cruise onboard entertainment ranges from a variety of sports to spas and in some cases casinos. Shops and live shows on these boats add the range different kinds of entertainment.
Many cruise boats will have water sports, indoor sports or deck sports activities. It is common to see passengers enjoying fun in the ship’s pool or just lazing around it. Check the size of function of pools on cruise ships you may be considering. Basketball and volleyball courts, some of which can be outdoors, are also available on many ships. All ships include a fitness center for those who want to maintain their fitness despite the leisurely nature of a cruise. Exercise equipment, fitness classes and other facilities will meet the needs of the most health conscious.
Massage, facials, manicures, pedicures and all manner of body pampering is available on most ships in their onboard spa. These are well patronised and fit into the cruise’s atmosphere of rest and relaxation. Because these are so sought after, it would be worth enquiring about the extent of spa services and the need to pre-book these.
If you enjoy the fun of a game of poker now and then you may be interested in the casinos available on some ships. Poker isn’t the only game on tap. Slot machines, blackjack tables, roulette, craps as well as different types of poker tables are available and some cruise operators provide lessons for beginners and even tournaments.
Don’t spend too much of your time or money shopping before you depart on your cruise. There is plenty of opportunity to shop on board in retail outlets that offer perfume, liquor, gourmet food stores, jewelry and electronics products. Most cruise ships have a drug store.
If the wildlife, history and geological instruction about the extensive ‘park’ through which you travel isn’t enough there are many other classes that you may like to consider taking. Enrichment courses on a variety of topics such as wines, finances, technology skills are just some of those available.
An Alaskan cruise is a great experience for kids despite the limit to the size of cruise ships. Each ship is large enough to accommodate skateboarding, technology games rooms and movie theaters. Child care services are available for parents too.
Live entertainment is alive and well aboard cruise ships. A selection of shows runs across the extent of a cruise. These differ from one ship to another but can include live bands, dance facilities, musical shows and even game shows. There is never a dull moment on an Alaskan cruise ship which will have some form of entertainment for everyone.
